At the museum you can follow Anders Zorn’s journey from his upbringing in Mora to an international career that took him around the world. Through his paintings, etchings and sculptures he became one of the leading figures of Swedish art during the National Romantic era, helping to put Sweden, Dalarna and Mora on the map. Anders Zorn - a great man in Europe
Anders Zorn is best known for his oil paintings – National Romantic and landscape scenes, nude studies of local women from Dalarna, and portraits. A sought-after portraitist, he painted subjects including several American presidents.
Celebrated in his own lifetime for his naturalistic technique, Zorn was regarded as one of Europe’s foremost painters in the late 19th century. He was also a highly skilled etcher and photographer. Today his work can be found in museums around the world, with the largest collection held at the Zorn Museum.

Here in Mora you can also visit Zorngården, the home of Anders and Emma Zorn. The house was remarkably modern for its day, boasting Sweden’s first stainless steel sink and water heater, among other features. Over the years it welcomed many notable guests of the era, including Prince Eugen, Selma Lagerlöf and Bruno Liljefors.

Anders and Emma Zorn often brought their friends to Mora Hotell, where they enjoyed themselves in our salons. In their honour we have created the Zorn Dinner, a package featuring food inspired by the 19th century, served in our private room, Konstnären (“The Artist”) – the very room where the couple and their friends once gathered.
