Experience a magical concert at Dalhalla
Dalhalla is a concert venue in Rättvik, Dalarna. What makes it so special is that it is an open-air arena set within a former limestone quarry. Limestone was extracted here in large quantities from the 1940s onwards, leaving behind the dramatic open pit that became the arena. Quarrying ceased in 1990, just before the idea of a national outdoor arena was born by opera singer Margareta Dellefors.
The quickest route is to turn off the R70 at Nittsjö, between Vikarbyn and Rättvik, which lets you avoid the traffic in Rättvik and brings you here in about 25 minutes from Mora Hotell & Spa.
The arena opened in 1993 and has since hosted countless concerts, theatre productions and opera performances. It seats around 6,000 people and is renowned for its superb acoustics, giving every performance a unique sound that simply cannot be recreated indoors.
