About us<\/h2>\nMora Hotell & Spa has been run by the Lund family since 2018. After living and working all over Europe, we finally put down roots in Mora – because Mora and Dalarna are simply magical. We have brought all our love of food, wine and the good life here, to what we believe is the finest place on earth.

\nOur hotel is for guests who want to experience Mora while enjoying four-star comfort and dining. We place great importance on supporting the region and its people, and we hope the people of Mora feel proud of Mora Hotell & Spa and its historic, charming setting.

\nWe have a limited number of parking spaces at the hotel, monitored around the clock by Securitas, as well as indoor spaces in our garage with direct access to the hotel’s rooms and facilities.\n\t

Hotel History<\/h2>\n

The property was first built in 1830, when Mr Sedwallsson founded Mora G\u00e4stgiveri, an inn with five large rooms, a dining room, a salon and two guest rooms with beds. Alongside the stables and a shed for horse-drawn carriages, there was also a wine and spirits shop. The inn later became Mora Hotell, with 17 rooms, and over the years it has been extended and renovated many times. Today it is a fully modernised, first-class town hotel with 141 rooms.<\/p>\n

The original building still forms part of the hotel today. Mr Sedwallsson was a merchant who later settled in \u00c4lvdalen, where he became known for arranging the transport of the porphyry sarcophagus – commissioned from \u00c4lvdalens Porfyrverk – for the burial of King Charles XIV John in 1844.<\/p>\n

Its most famous innkeeper was Julius Blomberg, father of the equally renowned Captain Carl Hugo Blomberg, who served in the US Navy during the Spanish-American War in 1898. The artist Anders Zorn and his wife Emma, \u200b\u200balong with friends such as Carl Larsson, Selma Lagerl\u00f6f, Prince Eugen and August Strindberg, were frequent guests at Mora Hotell.<\/p>\nPhoto from Mora district archive.
